- define "unequally yoked"
- If your friends negatively affect your judgment, then you are on shaky ground, if not, you might show them a better way by your actions.
- 2 Cor 6:14. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
It somewhat depends upon what you are doing with them. Dating? You probably shouldn't. Co-workers? That will limit your job options. Dealing with at the store? Give me a break.
- Eventually it will wear you down.
- 2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
- The verse comes from the New Testament, in the book of Corinthians. It says not to yoke (tie) yourself to unbelievers. Remember the old adage about being known by the company you keep? It's a little like that, though I believe the actual point is, the more you're with unbelievers, the more likely you are to be influenced by them.
- its says not to marry someone unequally yoked.
- Regardless of what the bible says, if you reject people because of their beliefs then that makes you a crap person, Christian or not.
- 1Cor. 15:33 "Do not be misled, bad associations spoil useful habits" NWT
- It is about not marrying unbelievers.
Hanging with non Christian friends is fine, but you need to be careful that they don't lead you astray. We are told to be 'in the world' just 'not of the world'. I mean if you spend all your time with Christians (aside from it being potentially quite boring) isn't that like hiding your lamp under a bushel?
- 2 Cor.6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
